What began as a simple plan to buy a small dive boat quickly became a nine-year labour of love for Liz Tallentire and Chris Thompson. Their ambitious restoration of the 1966 Danish fishing trawler Jayne Pearl has transformed the vessel into a sea-diving charter boat based on Scotland’s rugged West Coast.

On the 20th of June 2024, Whitney Sawmills held its first-ever open day. Well over 100 people visited the Sawmill and were guided on tours. There was a wide array of exhibitors, including Woodland Heritage, Border Oak, Grown in Britain, Twmpa Bikes, Samuel Souter, The Kings Foundation, Bella Bathurst, Origin Pizza and the Boat Building Academy. With demonstrations from makers Rolf Hook & Jason Wilkins, it was a fantastic day of networking with faces new to us and old friends. Thank you for coming.
