Whitney Sawmills stocks large amounts of English Oak, and some European Oak, but we also have plenty of other hardwood timbers available to buy.
We are also able to source Ash, Cherry, Elm, Poplar, Sycamore, Walnut and Sweet Chestnut, as well as other timbers such as Lime, Alder and Maple.

Whitney Sawmills, in collaboration with the UK tree charity Woodland Heritage, works hard at sourcing and selling hardwoods from sustainable British woodlands. It is estimated that currently only 6% of hardwoods used in the UK are sourced from Britain, the large majority being imported from Europe. At the same time only 40% of our mixed broadleaf woodlands are currently managed and it is this lack of woodland management that is creating the greatest threats to many endangered species.
Buying British hardwoods helps to sustain native woodlands by directly supporting the management and upkeep of woodland, helping to keep rural employment and skills alive.
